The story behind the game

The Dev Behind Lumina Quest

One developer. One big vision. Building in public.

The Origin

Why This Game?

Lumina Quest started the way most passion projects do — a gap in what existed. I wanted a game with the exploration feel of Genshin Impact, the role asymmetry of co-op roguelikes, and a world with real narrative weight behind every zone. I couldn't find it, so I started building it. That was the beginning of Ashveil Highlands, the Fracture lore, and the four-role combat system that's been my design obsession for the past year.

Building in Public

Why Share the Process?

Most indie games go dark for years and emerge as either a triumph or a ghost. I don't want to build that way. The dev log series exists because I believe the people who follow a project from early days become its best community. They give better feedback. They tolerate rough edges more gracefully. They care about the outcome. Building in public is a bet that transparency compounds — that sharing #002 (the combat system whiteboard) earns more trust than a polished trailer ever could.

Where Things Stand

Honest Status

Combat prototype: the most advanced system in the build. Elemental interactions work in the test environment, the four-role framework is validated, and combos chain in ways that feel genuinely fun. World: Ashveil Highlands is gray-boxed. The Fracture Rift geometry exists. No final art yet. Progression: XP curve designed and tested, talent trees still on a whiteboard. Alpha target: Q4 2026. One zone, four roles, core combat, basic progression. That's the scope.
